Bye Bye Harry!

The Harry Potter experience was the "something" that created a thread of shared experience for Evyn and I. An experience woven throughout most of her lifetime, that will forever be synonymous with her childhood and growing up.

I'm sure I'm not the only parent of an 18 year old who is struck by the irony of childhood being over for Harry, just as it is for our kids. Evyn grew up with Harry Potter and I feel like the posters and advertisements that read "The End", "It's Over" are talking to us.  Another ending....Harry Potter has been a part of our lives since Evyn was 5!  Harry Potter gave way to a ritual of books and movies that bonded Evyn and I.  We snuggled countless nights reading the books and shared the anticipation of new releases. Harry Potter was something that only Evyn and I shared.

As Evyn and I  watched the last movie I  looked at her, and just like Harry she has grown up; strong and capable. Thankfully, I am more proud of who she has become and who she will be, than I am sad about losing my little girl.

  1. I haven't seen all of the movies, but Lauren and David have seen all of them together.. the last few in the theater. Lauren has read the entire series a number of times. She loves it!
