I am a single mom raising a son with autism. 21 years ago, I read "Autism: a permanent developmental disability requiring lifelong care for which there is no known cause or cure". In that moment my world shifted. Today more than 3.5 million readers have shared in our journey through this blog as I have detailed our 21-year journey of grief, joy, disappointments, successes, lessons, strategies, personal challenges, frustrations, fears all as they unfolded- day by day.

Love, Therapist and No Surprises
Today Nicky's therapist called me nearly in tears. My heart stopped as I waited to hear what he was going to say. He quietly began "Today when I got Nick off the bus he looked at me and said "I Love You Julius". He went on to say he's such a special kid and he had never heard Nicky say that and he thought he was going to cry.
An incredible moment between any two people, but between a child with ASD and his therapist a phenomenal moment.
