Koegel Recruiting families for Autism Speaks Grants offering cutting edge treatment!

The Koegels are the pioneers of Pivitol Response Training (PRT). If you're not familiar with PRT you need to be. I can't say enough great things abut the Koegels or PRT, just happy to help spread the word.

KOEGEL AUTISM CENTER ANNOUNCEMENT

We are currently recruiting families for two Autism Speaks Grants offering cutting edge treatment!


We are looking for children with autism (ages 18 months - 6 years)!

The UCSB Koegel Autism Center has received two research grants through Autism Speaks to evaluate cutting edge treatments for young children with autism.

One of the Autism Speaks projects is for children ages 18 months - 3 years.  Eligible families will the randomly assigned to an immediate or delayed treatment group offering an experimental social engagement intervention based on the principles of Pivotal Response Treatment. We will monitor your child's social development using parent-child interactions, assessments, and eye-tracking technologies.

The other Autism Speaks grant is for children ages 4 - 6 years old.  Eligible families will the randomly assigned to an immediate or delayed treatment group offering Pivotal Response Treatment. We will monitor your child's social development using fMRI brain imaging technology, parent-child interactions, assessments, and eye-tracking technologies.



Participation in these no-cost projects include:
  • 6-10 hours of weekly autism treatment (individualized to the child)
  • Parent education in cutting-edge autism strategies
  • Comprehensive developmental assessments
  • Close monitoring of child progress
     


We are looking for:
  • Families living in Santa Barbara County who have a child with autism
  • The child must be 18 months - 6 years of age and have an ASD diagnosis
  • One parent must be available for 2 hours of parent eduction per week
  • Families must be willing to travel to UCSB for intake and follow-up appointments
